CDC examination of COVID-19 on cruise ships found COVID-19 RNA on surfaces for 17 days.
This is an update to our post below concerning the survival rate of Covid19 on surfaces. The CDC made the following Statement:
“A recent documented SARS-CoV-2 RNA was found on surfaces in cruise ship cabins up to 17 days after cabins were vacated on the Diamond Princess, before disinfection occurred.Live, infectious virus was NOT found. The authors’ finding does not indicate SARS-CoV-2 was transmitted from these surfaces.”
Though this does not definitively prove that COVID19 will be transferable up to 17 days it surely means that this virus is tough and last much longer than previously thought. Everybody needs to be prudent and exercise practical hygiene and constantly clean surfaces, sanitize their hands and make sure all of your personal devices are continually cleaned. This means that those who are in contact with someone infected or a surface that has been contaminated will by sure transfer, contaminate their phone device surfaces.
